Same exact story today as well from the "legal department." Heavy accented individual from a call center. They told me to call 415-852-9309 and speak to someone else about a lawsuit against me.
They told me their address was 450 Golden Gate St. in San Francisco, 94002.

I was called by someone named Keith Martin an "Associate" from the "Treasury Department" asking for my attorney's information to respond to the "enforcement action against me." I asked a LOT of questions and was given "supervisor names" of Roy Jackson, Jordan Miller and Jonathan Edwards, all of which popped up on scam sites. I was then told to call "Legal Officer Brian King" at this phone number so he could explain the enforcement action more thoroughly. This is NOT REAL. Be cautious, people!!

When I did call the number back I got a recording that was very questionable at best. Sounded like it was recorded in a bar or very crowded place. I am sure the US Government could do better. So agent Green and Mr. Brown, you can go scam yourselves. LOL

Tried to claim we were facing a grand jury for past due taxes.
Firstly, the IRS never makes first contact over the phone. If such a situation occurs, initial contact is always made in person, with a court summons or search/arrest warrant in hand.
Secondly, these scams are becoming so common place, I can't fathom that they can seriously still be effective in any way.
Earn money in an honest fashion, tool bag.

I just received a voice mail from a male caller that had a thick Indian accent and said his name was Steve Martin calling to enforce an action from the US treasury. The message did not address me by name just said trying to contact you and that if you ignore this message it will be a 2nd degree federal offense and you will face a magistrate judge. This sounded bogus to me, so I looked up scams involving this since I have not received anything in the mail and was grateful to find this site! I blocked the number and filed an FTC complaint. Number showed up as unavailable caller at (607) 595- 3253.

I told them to stop calling me or I would report them & he started cussing at me & said he was going to keep calling back & he was going to sue me. I tried calling the treasury dept in DC to report them but they were closed. Will do it tomorrow.

Bhaha this is a scam - I got the same call, I recorded the call, he said his name was steve harris, and steve martin, I told him my name was Jane Smith and I didnt know why he was calling he proceeded to say that I owed back taxes and they were going to arrest me. I got him talking and then dropped the bomb - told him I worked for the federal trade commission and the call was recorded, investigators will be at his door shortley. LMFAO - he hung

I got two calls today. One was a message with "Alex" from the US Treasury Dept of Legal Affairs. He said similar things to all the items below but then ended the message with "thank you and god bless." I know a lot of things could be believed but I have a hard time believing that the Treasury Dept would say "God Bless" in an Indian Accent. Total scam. Number they call from is 909-666-5714. I called the number back and the person who answered identified himself as Steve Jackson instead. He gave a badge number 115377. He told me there was a mistake on my 2010 and 2011 tax returns and they had sent letters and I hadn't responded, so now there was a freeze on my bank account, my drivers license was cancelled, and there was a lien on my house, and he was going to have an office come to my house in 45 minutes and arrest me. He never asked for money, which worried me and made me think this might actually be for real. We argued for about 10 minutes, which surprised me, and then we both hung up. I'm still waiting to be arrested.

Got the same call as crazybaglady22. guy sounded like a boston accent, and said he was with the us department of treasury and wanted the name and number of my lawyer who would represent me. I was having fun with him on the phone, and mentioned legal notices have to be mailed, which then I had him give me my address (he had a very old one).
he gave me the same number he called me with and told me I could talk to his Officer Brian king if i had any questions about the validity of the call.
Definite scam.
