Long story short, a guy from India was calling me to help me fix the computer at the office. I did entertain it for a couple of minutes.
First of all he kindly warns you that the errors on your computer are making "their servers crash" and it should be "fixed" immediately. Needless to say he is more than willing to guide you through the process. Every now and then he would dramatically exclaim "oh my GOD!", because my computer was in such poor shape! He sounded very concerned and taken aback. It's been a while since he has dealt with a computer in that rough of a shape. No wonder their servers are crashing! Of course, there was no way I could fix it myself, he had to connect to my computer remotely. I was assured that it's completely safe.
Well, I hope it goes without saying that you should NOT let anybody do that unless you know exactly who you are dealing with.
