They called trying to get me to download and install TeamViewer (a legitimate remote control software package) ostensibly to help me correct problems that my PC was reporting to their "central server." They said they were providing 1 years protection for the bargain price of $120.
I am guessing they were being less than honest with me, as they were saying my computer was reporting problems with Windows, and I don't have a Windows PC. I run Linux. I kept them on the line for almost 20 min trying to figure out what their angle was, whether it was credit card scam, virus download, or something else. I got handed off twice to different "technical support experts" before they got tired of my "incompetence" and hung up on me.
