I got hang-up calls (no body on the line after 10-15 seconds) from this number for 2-3 weeks until finally on Jan. 17, 2013 I got a call from it again with an automated message from Blue-Cross Blue-Shield of Western NY (BCBSWNY). The automated call had nothing more than dumb-bunny Healthcare Tips that anyone with a pulse would already know.
Oh, the automated message required that I enter my year of birth to prove who I was! Yes, I had to prove who I was to an automated message THAT CALLED ME.
So, I called BCBSWNY Customer Service two days ago and reiterated my request that I not get any calls from them (I've told them repeatedly in the past I do NOT want their goofy calls). The BCBSWNY guy told me he'd once again put me on the Do-Not-Call List at BCBSWNY. I even gave him this number. That was two days ago.
Yesterday, I got another call from this number with the SAME automated message. What gets me is that the BCBSWNY Customer Service guy told me the calls were directly from BCBSWNY (which is in Buffalo and in a downstate-NY city with a non-716 area code). I tried calling this number and it wouldn't go through because I have no long distance phone service on my land line. So, these automated calls are NOT directly from BCBSWNY in Buffalo or from their downstate-NY offices because it's a 716 area code that's long distance for anyone calling from the Erie County area. I think it's time to complain to Medicare (1-800-MEDICARE) as this has to do with a Medicare Advantage Plan.
By the way, these calls have awakened me several times, and each time I performed a *69 to acquire the calling number (which I have to pay for each time – maybe a dollar or so). I haven't been feeling good lately and have been sleeping a lot.
I'm sure every time BCBSWNY initiates one of these goofy programs that some consulting firm goes into the BCBSWNY offices with some cute presentation telling BCBSWNY that if they pay them so much money to administer this or that goofy program BCBSWNY will save more than the cost of the program. Never mind that BCBSWNY MEMBERS DO ALL THE WORK and yet do not see a single penny of that money that BCBSWNY saves with this or that goofy program. I just love doing lots of work so a health-insurance company can save money and at the same time raise my co-pays and premiums year after year after year after year!
Don't forgot to file a formal complaint with Medicare about these annoying calls (1-800-MEDICARE). Thanks for reading my post!
