It isn't the sheriff, it is a legal process server (they can legally serve you). they then give you this phone # & you call RF & Associates (AKA global ag, reliant financial associates) & they will threaten to sue you, take your home, your bank acct, garnish your wages...anything.... unless you pay them. if you are lucky they will offer a settlement. That doesn't mean the debt is legitimate... they buy old debt. RECORD the conversation! ask them to verify & validate the debt in writing. Look up your rights & seek out an attorney. They will not go away & they will make your life hell so they can get money from you that you might not even owe (or you may only owe a portion) & what they do is not legal. Get an attorney & file complaints with every gvt. agency from home-town to federal that you can.
