They are also trying to fake the caller ID. On my caller ID, the number showed a local number which returned to the FAX at the County Jail. We are investigating to see if it was an employee or inmate. Their message said they were from the 'County Clerks Office' and a police officer was attempting to issue me a summons. If I did not call them back by 5pm today at 866-826-2480 the "court" would issue a warrant for my arrest as 'failure to appear'. The case number they gave DOES NOT match any case number the local court uses. Likely their internal number. LOOK PEOPLE - THIS IS ILLEGAL, they can not pretend to be the government. Clearly stated in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It also states in there that WE (people being harrassed) can seek DAMAGES and as a CLASS we can seek larger damages.
