Caller ID shows "Private". I suspect they did that in an attempt to have their call answered instead of ignored as I usually do for numbers I don't recognize. The surprise to me was that this is the first time any of these scammers left a voicemail message. Unfortunately, she started talking before the beep (probably intentional on her part)so I don't have a business name or person's name. They would probably be bogus anyway. The jist of the call was regarding bailing you out of mortgage debt or foreclosure. The call back number she left was 888-334-2435. I won't be returning their call but have added the number to an ever growing log I started keeping when I started receiving 5 or 6 of them daily on my cell phone. What I discovered is that many of the numbers dispayed are "spoofed" phone numbers. Area codes that don't exist or exchanges that don't exist within valid area codes. Rarely get more than 1 or 2 calls from the same displayed number. I guess that's their way of trying to get past BLOCK lists along with PRIVATE NUMBER. I believe that most, if not all of these types of calls are coming from the same group of people. Don't become one of their victims. I don't know what can be done to try to catch them because and since they're not a legitimate business, just a bunch of scammers, the Do Not Call list and laws mean nothing to them. Anyone have any suggestions on action to take to try to get these scumbags caught & prosicuted?
