I've heard about things like this, but never actually encountered one. A fellow with very heavy Indian accent said: "Okay, Mr. Douglas, you owe a past due amount to the IRS. Do you have an attorney to represent you?" Then he said he could send one of his "agents" to my home to collect my "tax payment". The whole thing was sort of funny, but I could see these bastards maybe getting a CC number or check from an elderly person. Be careful but have a little fun when they call. The more time you spend messing with them the less time they will have to extort more naive people.
