Claimed to be from Microsoft and tried to convince me that my computer was downloading viruses. No doubt he would have tried to let me give him remote access to my computer because that is how this scam works. I told him I did not own a computer and that he had the wrong number.
An internet search reveals that the 547 area code is not valid, so the call is obviously offshore, and the caller had a thick East Asian accent (Indian, Pakistani).
I got 4 other calls from this number in the last 2 days that I did not answer. When I tried to phone the number back I got a recording that said the call could not be completed as dialed.
I also received the same call last week from an Ontario, CAN number (416-364-1111).
