He proceeded to inform me that I owed taxes from 2011 and since I have avoided paying them, once the call was disconnected I would be arrested within 45 minutes unless I pay the balance of $3245.95 in full. I go to H&R Block to file my taxes and always pay for the insurance they offer for mistakes made so this type of thing wouldn't happen.
I knew this was a scam when he said he was in Washington DC and the number was from New York. He was persistent to get my debit card or credit card information and said that was the only way I wouldn't be arrested.
It's not possible for me to owe taxes because when I file, they would tell me. If a mistake was made, which it has been before, they would tell me, as they have done before.
Watch out for this number. When they call it's a recording telling you to call them back. Give them no information. The IRS/US Dept of Treasury knows everything about us. If they were real, you wouldn't have to provide your date of birth, address or anything else.
