He returned a call I made on behalf of a client. He would not identify himself, but said my client needed to pay a debt he also wouldn't identify. He repeatedly threatened to rape my mother.
I filed a local complaint with the Police. I will track him down, if I can, and file a complaint in Brooklyn, if he is in fact calling from that landline. If he is present in the U.S., I may be able to convince a local ADA to prosecute for aggravated harassment. It's only a misdemeanor, but it is a Class A, and if he's convicted, I suppose he might be deported.
If not, I will try to sue him civilly. I find it hard to believe they haven't stopped using this number. It's been in operation for more than a year.
