A SCAM: 'Mr. Holmes' called - purportedly from ConEd, and told me that in order to avoid electricity cut-off I had to go to Walgreens/Duane Reade, etc to get a green dot prepaid credit card. He would give me an hour to get it and call back. To avoid wait times on Con Ed phone line, I could call him back directly. A regular credit or debit card wouldn't work nor would a bank checking account - these would take 4-5 hrs to go through and the cutoff was scheduled to be done in the next hour or two.
THIS IS A SCAM. Whoever calls from this number does NOT work for ConEd (I did check with ConEd). They will take your money and there is little recourse because it is a prepaid card.
