The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of another phone scam that is hitting the area. Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Walburg says residents have been getting calls from people from Full Spectrum Litigation – which does not exist and is a scam company. These people are looking for credit card or bank account information to settle a debt related to U-S Bank or other financial institutions. Walburg says the representative on the phone says they will try and settle a debt they say you owe. He says they will ask for personal information such as your social security number, date of birth, and address, and they will ask if you would like to settle out-of-court for a small fee, which amounts to less than half the amount they are saying you defaulted the bank.
The number they are calling from is 1-888-787-7602. Walburg says the representative will also say something about sending the case off to court and that it could result in criminal charges. The calls that the Lake County Sheriff’s office have received from residents say the scam calls are related to bad checks to merchants. Walburg says residents should be aware that no prosecution like what this company is saying can happen in Lake County.
If you have received a call or have any questions about these calls, you are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 256-7615.
