I received a call stating that I have been approved for a $5,000 personal loan from Capital One Bank at a 10% APR...Tom stated that he just needed to verify my information before sending the application to the loan officer. He proceeded to read back to me all my personal information except my social security number which he asked me to verify the last 4 digits. At this point I stopped him and told him that I don't remember applying for a capital one loan, and I would need to speak with my fiance be for proceeding with the loan, he began to get irritated saying he wasn't forcing me to take anything. I stated in my nicest tone that I understood that he wasn't forcing me however I still need to talk to my fiance. Tom said the process would go faster if I would just verify the information and after talking over me several times, he continued. He attempted to verify my social security and I avoided that, then he moved on to my Huntington bank account. I informed him that account had been closed and then he was more than willing to allow me to discuss the loan with my fiance. Tom gave me the call back number and I assured him I would talk it over with the s/o when he arrived home at 4, made sure I knew the hours of operation for the "Capital One Bank" verification department and assured Tom I would be calling tomorrow with my answer. After hanging up, I immediately called Capital One Customer service - 1-800-926-1000 spoke with a nice gentleman who kindly told me that Capital One is not taking online applications at this time and haven't been for a while, the only way to apply for a loan through Capital One is by going into a branch and speaking with a loan officer. He told me this is most definitely a scam and would be forwarding Mr. Grab's name and telephone information to most likely the fraud department since these Scammers are using Capital One as their front. So if you get this call...get their name and their number, call capital one and report it, and then call your local FBI they can redirect you to their fraud department who works on these things specifically. The more information you can get..the more help in finding these people you will provide. Good luck and Stay Alert, remember if it doesn't seem right it most likely isn't.
