Internal Revenue Service

The man had an Indian accent, and scared the death out of me. I was so upset, thinking the police were coming to arrest me. I hope someone can do something to stop these awful people, I swear if I had a heart condition, I would have, had a heart attack that's how upset I was....

this person called my landline and left a message saying he was with the IRS and needed an immediate return call. My wife called and he said we owed back taxes from 2009 and 2011 and if we didn't pay up he was going to issue a warrant for her arrest. I was at the airport on my way out of town when my granddaughter called me and told me what was happening. I assured my wife it was a scam; she called our local IRS office and they have nothing on file for us. Beware these people; they were very threatening on the phone...

My mother just called me that she had received a voice message from Officer David Cooper from IRS. Apparently, he was involved in some "very urgent" investigation and my mom had to call back right away to avoid "dire consequences." Needless to say, this call smelled fishier than Boston Harbor. Attempt to call back: "The Magic Jack customer that you're trying to reach is currently unavailable..." I didn't even know our government switched to Magic Jacks! *eye roll*

John said he was an IRS agent and would have me arrested. I had to give him/the IRS $2278.35 to avoid being arrested. I said I would call back. I called the IRS and they told me it was a scam and to contact the treasury department. Call his number 100 times so that they feel the same pain we do when we are harassed and scamed by these callers!! Show them they are nothing

I've gotten this call, my dad, my cousins, my wife's family, and my friends throughout the US. Just wanted to let you all know. I do work for the IRS (but in IT in DC) and just wanted to let you all know that the IRS will never call you directly they will always send you a certified piece of mail requesting for you to call/see them first.
If this guy calls again, you are entitled to ask for the person's badge number (employee ID - its long #s only), their POD (Place of Duty - address where he works), and their Office Phone Number. And you can report it to the following IRS Website: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

The caller claimed to be from the Internal Revenue Service (even though the call was made on a federal holiday) and requested that I call a number (the same number the call originated from) to speak to "Damon Marshall" of the IRS in regard to an IRS investigation of my tax return and taxes that I supposedly owed.

Claims you are guilty of tax fraud and an immediate arrest warrant is pending unless you pay back taxes within 45 minutes. Must stay on the line all the way to the bank. Money to be sent via "electronic voucher" from a DollarTree or 7-11. Funny, banks can do that. Total scam. Don't fall for it.

Caller stated that I was entitled to a refund from the IRS, and further stated that there was a penalty amount associated with filing an incorrect return. That penalty needed to be submitted via a Green Dot MoneyPak at a 7/11, K-Mart, or CVS location from the sales clerk, and must be received prior to refund amount. Caller stated that refund check could be sent electronically to bank account or shipped via FedEx. I requested that check be shipped to address on file. Caller stated again that penalty must be received today, or refund is nullified. I asked if this was legitimate, and requested his supervisor. The caller hung up upon this request.

They do not operate like this.
