They are scammers. If they continue to call you, play their game. Call them over and over just like they do you. They will get mad and quit calling you for a while.

This guy keeps calling me and leaving messages on my cell phone and at my work from (202)618-4120 harassing me about a debt that occurred 4 years ago. I explained to him that I claimed bankruptcy about a year ago and he said it didn't matter and that he was investigating check fraud and demanded a huge lump sum of money and even asked if I had any family or friends that could loan me the money to pay this debt. Has anyone else received a call like this? And is this a scam or is he lying to me about still having to pay even tho my bankruptcy was approved 10 months ago?
