Same call happened to me about 10 minutes ago and I decided to look him up too. Same phone number also. He had an Indian accent, saying that he was from Microsoft and said that there was a problem on my computer that I was not aware of. I said I was not interested and he remarked with something like don't blame us if you computer crashes. I hung up and found this website.

This guy said he was calling from "Windows." Said they had received remote information about "bad things" that were downloaded on my computer when I was online. Wanted me to go to www.ammyy.com -- where they wanted free remote desktop access to my computer. I kept doubting this guy was calling from Windows. He spent a great deal of time trying to convince me otherwise. He even gave me a second number -- 804-435-5332 -- which I could call between 6pm-7pm to verify their identity! This is really, really scary.

Like Jeremiah and Kathy, a guy with an Indian accent tried to tell me he was from Microsoft and there was a problem with my Windows program. I don't run Windows. He immediately suggested it was a problem in compatibilty from Microsoft programs on my Mac and he was authorized to call by Apple.
Yes, really. I told him I didn't believe either Apple or Microsoft would contact me in this manner and hung up.
