I received a call on my cell from an "unknown" caller. The lady who answered had a very think Caribbean accent, so she was sort of hard to understand at times, but she said that I had been picked by the government to receive a one time $9,200 grant. She proceeded to explain how the US government conducted a poll and picked out a select group of people in my zip code, who did not have a criminal record, and paid their taxes on time, and I was one of the people who got picked. She then gave me a confirmation number and told me that I needed to call 360-967-4377 and speak to "my grant account manager" and they would deposit the money in my account today. So just out of my own curiosity, I called the number just to see where it originated from, and another lady with a thick Russian sounding accent asked for my confirmation #. I gave it to her and then she asked me for my 1st and last name. I then said "why don't you already have my 1st and last name, and why my information did not pull up in her system from my confirmation number, since I was apparently "picked specifically by the Government to receive this grant money? Her reply was "How was she supposed to pull up my account if I didn't give her my 1st and last name. At that point I ended the call and told them to never call me again! Obviously a huge scam!! I Googled the number, and a lot of complaints came up. Fortunately, their scam did not work on me, but apparently it has worked on a lot of people.I just wanted to put the word out there to help prevent this from happening to someone else.
