It seems as though callers using this number are trying just about every gimmick they can think of: "we are calling because you expressed interest in furthering your education" or "you entered a contest and have won a$100 gift card to use at XYZ. Just pay a small fee..." or - I love this one - "I am calling from the US Grant department and you qualify for a $9500 grant." Or my favorite, "I am with the US Tax Service" (notice they don't call it the IRS) "and you owe money. You will be arrested if you don't pay up right now."
They are all scams!
