This is a fake "computer support" company that calls. I've read about it before and never answered, but for giggles I decided to. I spoke with "Adam" - he didn't speak English very well. I told him I know this number and that he is a fraud and steals money. He said no he's not he's asked for nothing then asked me if I was close to my computer. I told him no, it's been in the closet for 2 years. He told me I had an issue on my computer that he was notified about and was calling me to correct it. I advised him that my computer is not connected to the internet and has been in the closet for 2 years and there was no way he received notification. He then told me to go to my computer (which I'm not in front of or have access to) and he'll need access to my computer to send files to correct the issue. I again told him the computer's been in the closet and this time emphasized it hasn't had electricity to it therefore there could be no issues. He tells me that he got notification that my computer and he needs to correct it. I told him I don't have access to the computer is fine. He then game me a spill of if you don't have me fix your computer now or call us back in 24 hrs later my computer won't work in 36 hours. I laughed and asked him how he was going to make that happen. He then went through the I received notification blah blah blah and then if I don't have him fix it will shut down in 36 hours... blah blah blah. By the end I said I'm good, he said my computer won't work, I said fine, he got all pissy and flustered I smiled.
Ultimately - this sounded like a guy that I dealt with when my sister's computer got a virus. It wasn't a bad virus, easy fix, but, anytime you were online it would direct you to a big warning site that the computer was infected and to call a number. It was actually different numbers, so for giggles I called them and got the same person both times. Don't remember if it was Adam, but same push. I am most likely getting these calls because I called them those times. It was months ago, but there's probably some sort of association.
Next time I'm going to go with it... but act so stupid to get anything he needs to see how long it takes for him to hang up on me. My dad's an IT guy, I've been an unoffical IT person in my departments at work, I've done tech support. I know all the fun stuff. This will be fun :)
