I actually talked to two people from Streamline and, get this, they are acting as debt collectors and do not believe the have to follow the "Fair Debt Collections Practicing Act". Evidently this is what their employer is telling them. The Federal Trade Commission has a different take on it though. Even law offices that are trying to collect on behalf of their clients must comply or face fines of $1,000.00 per offense (that's every phone call, letter etc. after they have been informed not to do so).

I talked to a woman who was able to assist me in helping me take care of some debt that I forgot about and keep the creditor from placing a garnishment like Portfolio Recovery did to me. Very professional and understanding. Pleasure doing business with this company and the rep.

Just an FYI and this is coming from the FTCs website...http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Can a debt collector garnish my bank account or my wages?
If you don’t pay a debt, a creditor or its debt collector generally can sue you to collect. If they win, the court will enter a judgment against you. The judgment states the amount of money you owe, and allows the creditor or collector to get a garnishment order against you, directing a third party, like your bank, to turn over funds from your account to pay the debt.
Wage garnishment happens when your employer withholds part of your compensation to pay your debts. Your wages usually can be garnished only as the result of a court order. Don’t ignore a lawsuit summons. If you do, you lose the opportunity to fight a wage garnishment.
