Same thing happened to me today. Initially asked him the name of the company and he made up a name that I cannot remember because it was so generic and fake.
It was a male with a standard american dialect and he posed as a debt consolidator.
He pretended to know my recent credit payment behavior and pretended to know that I pay more than the minimum due. Only my credit card company would know that.
He/They are skilled at getting you to say "yes" at VAGUE questions during the conversation to pretend to know you (i.e. "I see you have a visa account" ).
He Initially asked me for my expiration date on my visa and then proceeded to ask me for the number of visa cards I have and my debt on each one. When I said I had x amount he hung up on me immediately. I called the number back and it was changed or disconnected immediately within 30 seconds of hanging up.

I asked for his name and agent number, three times I was told no and then he called me an MF'er and hung up on me.I was shocked.
I was a call in-reference to my CC.
