If you receive a call from this number, please be aware, this is a SCAM. They have targeted the metro Boston area lately. Many business owners in my area have received the same call, some, unfortunately, fell victim to it!
It's a rather sophisticated scam too. It appears the scammers recorded the greeting you will hear if you call the legitimate NSTAR customer service number.
The scammers will call your business or residence and tell you that you must pay them ("NSTAR ELECTRIC") a certain amount of $$ or your electric service will be disconnected within 30 minutes due to an overdue balance. DO NOT give them your real NSTAR account number, name, or any other info, as the scammers will use this info against you now or in the future. They will instruct you to purchase a green dot Visa card at a drug store or 7-11, and call them back to make the payment.
If you happen to not be available when they call, they instruct to call them back ASAP you by leaving a voice message. When you call the number, you hear the exact same message you will hear if you call the real NSTAR number. SCARY, but BOGUS! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! I did not fall for this scam, because something just smelled wrong. Especially the green dot payment BS. If you question the scammer regarding any info they would have if they were the legitimate company, they will become very aggressive, and either hang up on you or threaten you with legal action...funny, scammers threating legal action.
Watch out and call the local police and report this scam if the A-holes call you.
DO NOT PAY THEM and DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!
Call NSTAR and report this to them as well!
