I may have misspelled a website name as I was using Internet Explorer. There appeared a notice on my screen saying that I, a Verizon customer, have malware on my computer and should call this number. The notice was designed to give the impression that it was from Verizon although it did not actually say that. The computer was completely frozen. Nothing I did with the mouse had any effect but the switch to turn it off did turn it off, After restart it worked normally. I called the number out of curiosity. Someone in India offered to help me using remote control of my computer. I declined the offer since the notice giving me his number was malware to start with.
