Since there is no such organization called American Veterans Association, I knew the caller was telemarketer/professional fundraiser. Told him I didn't believe him and to remove my number from his list.

They usually call about doing an energy survey and say it's not a sales call. It's probably a scam. They're tring to sell something or they wouldn't call.
They hang up if they are told it's a business.
They even call on Sunday morning.
