I called the number back and got an answering machine that identified itself as the AFL-CIO voter's action line.

One of their canvassers stopped by last week and tried to get me to support their democratic agenda, make a donation and send a handwritten note to my congressman (he said he would tell me what to write!) saying I want him to do whatever they say, I guess. Anyway, he also said they would be calling to make sure he actually came by and wasn't just making up names (ala acorn). So that's apparently what the # was, I didn't answer.
