Man with Indian accent (uses Spanish surname) calling claiming to be from IRS. Tries to get victim to pay over phone. I'm pretty sure IRS sends letters first. Report immediately: If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484. You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint. Don't let these idiots get away with this.

Ijust got a call from a Michael Brown from irs demanding that I owed over $8000..and I was being sued by the irs, and I would be arrested any day now!! never mentined if it was me or my husband that owed the money...just threatning me..He gave me his name and badge #irm 7068.....don't know if he is legit or not...I have never gotten anything from irs about taxes or anything of that nature...

Claimed I was contacted Saturday and now a warrenty has been issued for my arrest and police would arrive in 2 hours if I did not pay outstanding balance owed for past 7 years. Reported to TIGTA website BEWARE!!!!!!

This just happened to me as well. I received the initial call and hung up. The caller threatened me with a warrant and stated that the Sheriff would be picking me up shortly. I could barely understand him because his Western Indian accent was so strong. He gave my the name of the "IRS Case Officer," Officer Michael Brown, and his phone # (716)-262-1257, ext. 142. The caller told me that I should call Officer Brown directly if I wanted to find out more about the charges against me and avoid immediate arrest . Instead, I called the IRS Advocate line to determine if this is a fraud to report it and started searching the internet while waiting on hold, when I came across this comment. I have to say that I am a little upset.

The same guy called me on my cell phone. India accent very rude said I owe money from old taxes. Said if I didn't pay I would have to go to jail. He then spammed my phone with another call it actually said "911". They want you to get money and wire it some where. This is a SCAM! Have fun with the guy he is not a nice person.

This is a scam. Caller claims to be Mike Brown, IRS Revenue Officer but does not provide a case number. The IRS leaves a case number. Always ask callers for their IRS Employee Number. IRS employees will provide the number immediately. These callers refuse to provide ID numbers and claim to be from the IRS "Washington State" branch office. All callers have Western Indian accents. They claim they have a non-billable warrant for your arrest and state you have 5 criminal allegations against you. They demand your payment over the phone or your will be arrested. The IRS NEVER requests a credit card or wire transfer over the phone. The caller ID does list the actual IRS' main number of 800-829-1040. Do not give out any personal information, do not verify any of your personal, information and do not pay them!

They claim to be a final notice call from the IRS. Funny I never got a first or second call :-) It is a complete scam. The IRS will send notices through written mail. they never call. I have a friend that is an IRS Revenue agent so I know this for a fact. Complete scam! Do not call them back!
