I received a call from a collector looking for my daughter. When I refused to give her my daughters phone number, she threatened to harass me by calling me every day until she talks to my daughter. My daughter is 29 years old and I am not responsible for her debt. I do not feel collection companies should be allowed to call and harass parents for problems their grown children are having.

Actually they are not sweetie. I am sorry these people are harassing you.
You are considered a 3rd party and according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices act
Section 805 Communication in connection with the debt collection
2(b) COMMUNICATION WITH THIRD PARTIES. Except as provided in section 804, without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as reasonably necessary to effectuate a postjudgment judicial remedy, a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than a consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector.
So legally they cannot.
