I received a call telling me they were responding to my online application for health insurance. I did fill one out and was flooded with calls and e-mails.
However this person tried to get me to pay them $479 over the phone TODAY!! This would be $75 for the application fee and $419/mo for coverage for my family of three.
He really didn't ask me any questions about my family's health. He just said he had all the info he needed from the online questionnaire I filled out.
He told me that I would be signing up for a PPO that would give me 70/30% coverage. He said the insurance was through the Beachstreet PPO Network (claiming it was the same network that Blue Cross & Blue Shield and all the other providers used). He seemed quite annoyed by my questions. I told him I'd have to do some research. This conversation was quite unusual from anyone else I spoke to.
I told him I needed to make sure my providers would accept the insurance. He was very annoyed and said it would be quite rare that they would not accept it, but to go ahead and tell him some of my providers. After a brief pause he said they were in the network.
Then I asked him what the name of the company was. He said "the Beachstreet PPO Network".
I said, "That's the company?" He said that's the network that all the insurance providers use.
Then I said, "Who would I be writing my checks too? What insurance company?"
Then he said, "I'm sorry ma'am that I couldn't help you today."
Clearly this is a scam!!
Please don't be so foolish as to sign up for insurance if you don't even know the name of the insurance company that's backing it.
I did some more research and found that this number belongs to (954) 773-2800 Double Eagle Marketing 2950 W Cypress Creek Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309
