Speed Trap located here! Portland Oregon doesn’t care about school, just $$$!
Photo Radar van is constantly set up by “public safety” but, take a good look around: Witnesses have seen the chronic set up of two different vans. These vans are set up almost everyday, for many hours, they switch sides of the street either during the day, or one day on one side, the next day on the other side. At $300.00 per ticket, you can see the “revenue” “public safety” generates for them.
• 30 M.P.H. posted speed sign on the same side of the street as the school. Blind spot. Drivers turning right off of Division Street, encounter a degree of uphill grade. Suddenly, the yellow 20 M.P.H. sign shows up along with the “public safety” photo radar van.
• 35 M.P.H. posted speed sign on the opposite side of the street another blind spot from the school. The cross walk (located on the corner of Lincoln and 92nd) is old and pealed off, faded on the street. Plus, it is not located by (or in front of the school). The Tri-angled yellow children sign has no instructions.
• The street curves, creating a blind spot. A blind spot, that “public safety” sets up the photo radar van in. the instant you pass the crosswalk and the sign, suddenly you see a photo radar van take your picture, and the 20 M.P.H. sign is located directly at the back of the van. This does not give drivers a fair warning.
• What angers us is: “If” “Public Safety” really cared about the students that attend this school. there would be:
• A highly visible school crossing in FRONT OF the school.
• Flashing yellow crosswalk lights.
• A volunteer at the crosswalk guard during needed hours.
• Just like other schools in the same area.
