I rec'd a call today (5/8/2014, the called that a Windows computer at this address has been sending out pings regarding potential unauthorized access. He stated that Microsoft was warning me that someone maybe trying to "hack" into my computer and change my password also "last evening". He wanted me to give him information on the programs I was running. asking the same type of questions. I asked him questions to include was he with Microsoft, his reply was "yes."
Also, strange he called on line that is our 3rd phone line and no linked to any information that is stored on any vendor website or my computer, and actually it is a new number.
I stated I would contact my IT person however, he remained persistent that that my IT person would not be able to help with the "problem." I hung up!!! and they called back, I did not answer.
Person had an Indiana accent and called from New York.
