This number left a voice message on my cell phone.
"Hi, my name is Anna Meyers and I'm with the fraud alert (unintelligible) worthless check division. I have an individual by the name of "Cheryl Brazil." (mumbled/partly unintelligible) verification. Your name came up as an affiliate of this individual, which is why I'm trying to contact you now, to see if you may or may not know them. If you could go ahead and give me a call back (unintelligible -- maybe "about this") immediately this is my direct line 913-586-0334 in regards to account number, or case number 569748. Thank you.

Immediately, I noticed a few problems:
1) No bank was mentioned.
2) No name (Neither mine nor my wife's.) was mentioned, for an intended recipient.
3) The person named in the message is completely unknown to us.
4) We never use our checking account to write checks. Online, we direct the bank to send checks to pay bills, etc. It would be hard for anybody to have a handwritten check from us, since we never write any. I wouldn't know where to start looking, to find a blank check.
5) NOBODY ELSE HAS MY PHONE NUMBER. Wife, kids, and 2 or 3 very close friends; that's it. This cell phone number is never given out to anyone.
6) If my name came up as an "affiliate," that does not explain how the number was obtained. Plus, Anna doesn't seem to know my name.

Claims to be an officer with the federal trade commission. State 3 cases pending regarding a payday loan. Threatened to have me arrested, fired from my job and " having dire consequences". He would not leave the company name making these claim and when I questioned whether this was a debt collection attempt he started yelling and threatening me. My mother who is 86 years young, just received a call from this number, asking to speak to me however, that is not my phone, nor I reside there. The person identified himself as Diego Sanchez and claims it was a legal matter and tried scaring my mother. Needless to say, my mother is very upset. I have only one dispute and it is in the hands of my attorney.

I was able to get through. They said the name of the company was "consumer advocate agency" which is probably a fake name. They make it sound like they are connected to the government. It is supposed to be about helping to lower mortgage payments, but I paid mine off 3 years ago. I wish the government would get involved. (if you call, as soon as the computer answers, punch 0 and someone usually picks up in a couple seconds.)

You cant talk to a person. Its a prerecorded message about a security system. There is no company name given. You press a number to speak to someone or another number to be taken off their call list. When you press the number to speak to someone, its another recorded message saying press 1 to speak to someone & opt in for future phone calls OR press 2 to have your number removed. Today, I pressed the number to speak to someone & it just said Thank You then hung up. I have gotten a call from this same number 2 days this week already & 2-3 days last week. Each time I press the number to be taken off their list and still I'm getting phone calls

My husband too received a threatening phone call from David Walker (716) 362-8992 stating he took a pay day loan out for like $400 and they were going to send the cops to our house and pick my husband up at 11am tomorrow if we didn't pay the balance. They tried to validate our home address but would not tell us any information on the supposed debt. The man was heavy accented and started yelling at my husband before hanging up on him.
I called the number back to try to obtain more information on the company calling us and the lady answered "Hello." She told me her name was Stacy but clearly with her accent she was not white. She would not even talk to me unless I told her my name. When I told her I was going to make a police report, she told me to do what I have to do and to go to "Hell."
My husband then called back to play nice to find out more information regarding this company. The person told him he was calling ACS (a law office). They transferred him at least 3 times before someone would talk with him. Once they did talk the guy yelled at my husband for saying his telephone number too fast when his computer wouldn't work. He told my husband that he was "flat refussing" to pay the debt and they would send the cops. The guy ended up yelling at my husband again before hanging up on us again. This man too had a heavy accent.
We contacted our local police station. They did inform us that they are not going to come and arrest my husband due to a collection call. Most likely this was a scam.
