I spent a bunch of minutes talking to, and listening to, this aggressive South Asian male. He told me that Microsoft computers in PA were infected with "critical errors" and that he had 17,000 calls to make to people, on behalf of Microsoft, to alert people to the problem. He told me to go to my computer and, following his instructions, input information so as to rid my computer of these critical errors. What troubled me were the situations of his asking for my mother (who has never touched a computer in her life), my own life with computer-owning for 12 years never having prompted such a call, and his aggressive, urgent insistence I input instructions from him into my computer. I ended the call with this man and immediately called my phone company to ask them, and tell them, about this call. Customer service told me that this man, who sounded about as much like a "Kevin" as Kissinger sounds like Nancy Kwan, was fishing/phishing. I venture he will successfully hook someone, but not me today.
