Alex Garcia was attempting to collect on a debt from 2007 statute of limitations is shorter than 5 years in Florida. I googled the number he called from and received similar cases proving it had to be a scam. on top of that the thing that made it look the fishiest was that even if i had this debt still unpaid the statute of limitations had long passed.
Florida's Statute of Limitations
"Florida’s statute of limitations varies for different types of debts. For written contracts such as personal loans, the statute of limitations is five years. So, once this type of debt is more than five years past due, the lender can no longer sue in order to collect owed money. For other debts, the statute is shorter. Oral contracts and revolving accounts such as credit cards have a statute of limitations of four years." [http://www.debt.org/faqs/americans-in-debt/consumer-florida/]
