I just received the same sort of message today dec 12th. This time it was an automated message that gave the same message but then said that i had to call another number to get this warrant and IRS situation taken care of.

This guy called today claiming there was fraudulent tax for 3 years, that I had been audited by 5 auditors and that there would be a lien on my home, my bank accounts would be emptied and my wages garnished. And that my SSN was "blacklisted." He proceeded to try to get me to "stop the warrant" for my arrest today by paying $4,906 within one hour through an electronic cash payment. He told me I had to stay on the phone with him the entire time en route to get the cash, do the electronic payment, etc. And that I could not involve a third party or even hang up the cell phone or mute him! Unbelievable! I am reporting him to our local IRS office.

Note that the IRS will never: 1) call to demand immediate payment, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill; 2) demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe; 3) require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card; 4) ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone; or 5) threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
