It was a recorded message implying that I should cooperate with the Federal Government income taxes. When I called the number, a gentleman named David Williams. He sounded like he was from India, which strikes me odd with a name like Williams. His # was 10428.

I'm tired of all these calls. Because I have caller ID, I don't answer these calls, but my husband answered the calls. I wish the Federal government would find a way to stop these calls

This is a scam please dont give them your account info and please do not send these people money.

This number is an unknown number that keeps calling me after I blocked the first number telling me that they're the federal government and they're gonna give me an $8,000 loan that I'll never have to pay off. I listened to the entire phone call the first time, realized it was a scam and blocked the number. They got a new number and keep calling me. My husband told them to take me off their call list.

This exact same thing happened to me except they said they needed to verify who I was so they needed my age. I obviously gave the wrong age but they still said OK and had my address. I was first in shock that they had my address but I knew it was a scam from the moment I answered. I gave the wrong age and they went on with it. I said cash as well and told me to call sam Benjamin. I never called but I wanted to say yes this happened as well. How are they Getting any of my info in the first place?

I have been receiving calls from this number several times this week. I didn't recognize the caller ID (District of Columbia 1-202-560-5597)but I answered today. A woman with an Indian accent told me I had been selected because I met certain criteria to receive a grant from the US Government. She then asked me how I would like to receive said funds equaling &7,000, my choices were Visa, MasterCard or Cash. I stated Cash. So she gave me a "money" confirmation number and told me I had to call her supervisor Sam Benjamin at 202-436-9071. I didn't give her any information but I did confirm my address. I called the number and spoke with Sam and he told me I had to go through western union and I would need to pay $260 and it would be refunded back to me. I asked where he was and he said Washington D.C. and the money I would send would verify my identity. I told him I had no money to send him and he told me I could do it when I was ready no rush. I am NOT sending anyone any money. I really don't know why I even called. If someone wants to send you money they shouldn't need money from you. End of story. Has anyone else experienced this?

Man with heavy accent said he was calling in regards to the governments law suit against us for tax fraud and if we didn't make arrangements for payments with him immediately we would be arrested with the warrents that have been issued already in case we didn't co-operate. I have not been victimized, but they tried - here's what occurred:
This is a classic Green Dot MoneyPak scam.
First a man named John called and gave me a "Federal Grant #" and instructed me to call 206-973-7948, give my grant number (AQ106) and I would then receive a $7,000 grant from the Federal Government which would never have to be paid back.
Over the years - I've found when it sounds too good to be true - WATCH OUT!
I called the number and Robert said to purchase a Green Dot MoneyPak card from CVS, Rite-Aid, WalGreen, etc. for $4.95 - but I then needed to upgrade the card by putting $250.00 into the card - which he told me would remain my money and that once I called him back, I'd have $7,250.00 on the Green Dot MoneyPak card ($7,000 + the $250 they wanted me to deposit into the Green Dot MoneyPak account).
I immediately googled this "technique" and found it to be a new(er) scam - once you purchase the card and put your $250.00 into it, they ask for the card number and then have full access to your $250.00.
You'll have the $250.00 taken and, of course, will never see the $7,000.00 "Federal Grant".
A word for anyone receiving a phone call like this - HANG UP IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Too funny, so I received a call that I would be getting $8,000 from the Federal Reserve Bank of NY who will call me back from this number 206-905-9357 Steven Hagar x 8821. 200 Independence Ave. SW Washington DC 20201 is what they say is their address. Do they really think anyone will fall for this. They are definitely in another country as there was a long pause after any of my answers until they responded. Please do not take their calls as they come up as Unavailable 6-3660 on the caller ID. I really hope others that get their calls do not fall for this scam.
