Recorded message alleging you're bening sued by the "Internal Revenue ServiceS (with an "S"). I called and was asked by an Indian-sounding man for a case number, which the recording doesn't give. I informed the guy that it was a scam, and to remove my number! He got hateful, and I told him that when IRS contacts you, they do it by mail, not a robo-call.

Automated message left at 5 a.m.!! The caller I.D. stated Washington D.C. and the number above. Same speech as the last two. They state they are from the IRS.. Internal Revenue ServiceS if you listen closely they add an S to the end of service. It is odd that this would be any notice from the IRS, especially the final notice, since I am disabled and poor and haven't had to pay a tax in 7 years so far. They are barking up the wrong money tree.. all they will find are medical bills.. and they are more than welcome to take care of some of those!!!

Only a recording the substance of which is the same as kel's above. They identified themselves as the "Internal Revenue Services", not the Internal Revenue Service. The real IRS wouldn't operate that way so I never answer the call.

Got this call today on my voice mail. Same exact IRS call as the others here got. Officer Jason Miller. I called my CPA right away and she confirmed that IRS would never ever call directly without any case reference etc. and would not leave a message like that. I myself being an Indian I could make out that the accent was really a fake one like someone was trying to sound American desperately. Right after talking to my CPA I Googled the number and found this website. I called the number right away and there you go! It was picked up by a Indian guy. Even before he could say anything, I gave him a volley of my own threatening in Hindi (Indian national language) that they have been reported to FBI and the whole bunch would be put in jail and rot there for their life.

The IRS is the Internal Revenue Service and this pleasant young woman identified it as the "Internal Revenue Services". Here is the call verbatim. It starts broken because they did not wait for my answering machine to finish:
"...Internal Revenue Services. The reason for this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 786-765-7761. I repeat 786-765-7761. Thank you."
Why doesn't the IRS have an 800 number. Households commonly have more than one person. To whom does the "you" refer? I've worked in a business which was sued (by mistake) and a process server arrived to notify us. A phone call left on an answering machine would be plausible deniability in any court in the Western world.
786 is one of the Miami area codes. The IRS has a office in my county with a 321 code and their Miami office has a 305 code.
Obvious fraud.
I am a retiree who has recently found that some of my cohorts are, sadly, getting slow in the head. That's why I was targeted.
