Received a call from a person with a very thick foreign accent who said he represented Microft and that they had a message that there was something wrong with my PC. I ask you...when you had trouble with your computer didn't you have to jump through hoops to get anyone to speak with you?! Asked what state he was calling from and he said Texas. Believe this was an attempt to gain control of the information on my computer.

The guy clearly had an Indian accent. He said over and over that he was from Microsoft and my computer was being hacked and he needed to to some 'fixes'. I just kept giving him a hard tim about being a scammer and what info did he want: my credit card or bank account. When I finally said he was a scammer he hung up.

Caller had heavy Chinese accent. Claimed to be from Microsoft Windows OS Tech Dept. Said Microsoft has determined that my computer has not been responding to system upgrades and was in danger of "not operating at any minute." He said he had the ID number of my computer and wanted me to go to my computer so he could verify it. I refused and he responded, "Are you OK with your computer never working again?" I said yes and he hung up.

You always here about all the internet & telephone scams. You think to yourself,
"I'd never fall for that", well don't be so sure. Yesterday I answered the phone & a male with a thick accent tells me he's calling me from "windows" (1st) about the trouble I've been having with my computer. (2nd) he says didn't you send in a report to windows? OK, I was already suspicious, however, for most of the last year I had been having problems. The worst being from about June - Sept. Yes, I did send in error reports, but, I'm wondering how does he know this? I'd better ask more questions before giving any info. Before I can ask, He then says, " You have been having trouble with your computer running slow (who doesn't think that at times) We have found that someone is trying to access your
computer. Do you know SOME NAME from S. Africa?" I said NO & he asked if I have been downloading from the internet. I said yes, today I downloaded Microsoft Office 2013 & it's legal. He chuckled. I really went on alert & said I wanted my son to hear this, just a minute. But he just kept talking. I stomped on the floor 3 times & unbeknownst to the guy, he had already picked up the extensionj upstairs. The guy keeps talking, telling me he can tell me SOME NUMBERS from my computer, just get on your keyboard & I'll tell you what to do". Don't worry I
didn't. My son loudly says, "Mom, hang up. It's a scam" The guy syas "no, I'm from windows", I asked him to tell me my name & number. He said 1st initial & last name & my phone number. Son says, "Mom HANG UP!" I said, "My son is 1st initial & last name, too. I have to do what he says. I'm hanging up." So we did & figured that was that. About an hour later he called again. This time I looked at the caller ID it said: NAME NOT FOUND 1-000-000-0000, so I knew it was him again. I answered the phone in a deep harsh voice & said, "This phone is being monitored &
this call is being traced" they hung up & didn't called back, that day. I mentioned this when I sent out our club newsletter & at the next meeting several people came up to me & thanked me for writing about it as it happened to them, too. I am still seeing this number on my caller ID!! From reading the comments below it looks like they seem to wear the scam of many faces!! BEWARE!!!

Got a call last night from a "Microsoft" worker saying my computer was sending notifications. Samed my computer as an HP and that my name was "Laurie"...both wrong. He called my husband 2 hours before. BOTH of us let this guy into our computers via "teamviewer" in the "run" on our computers. He DID NOT give me a case number or tell me that the phone call was being recorded. He did, however, say my computer was showing only 1-8% CPU usage and throwing off over, 2000 errors. Wanted to sell me $120.00 worth of antivirus software for one year and $210.00 worth for a lifetime. HOAX. I told him to get off my computer. I said I would think about it and hung up.

Call came in from "Microsoft Window" according to the call display.
The phone number was 956-354-9072. The caller had an Indian/Pakistani accent (no surprise.)
He claimed to be calling from Microsoft Service Dept, and my computer had a virus.
This is a well-known scam that's been running for years, but the law enforcement officials and government won't do anything about it.
